  1. SEPTEMBER 2013

September 2013 – This month is all about preparing for gigs in autumn, and yes, the winter ahead. Celtic Krystal have been making their first video and we await delivery from the producers. Studio work continues on the new CD and hopefully that should be completed fairly soon. I will be making a solo appearance on Sunday 15th September, 5.45pm, at The Orange Tree in Baldock as part of the Balstock Festival. Finally, on the folk front, Celtic Krystal launched their new web site and the feedback so far is that it is a great improvement on the old site. …

  2. AUGUST 2013

August 2013 – This month is all about preparing for the autumn, and yes, the winter ahead. Celtic Krystal have been making their first video, out in the fields of Hertfordshire for the Celtic song Lord of the Dance. This, for those who have not heard our version is coupled with the Irish reel Sally Gardens. All good stuff. Hopefully, it will be available from September 2013 Celtic Krystal have private gigs in August and worth noting that the band can be booked for private parties and weddings where you want a Celtic Vibe. The recording of the album is …

  3. JULY 2013

July 2013 – Had a very good night at the end of June with Celtic Krystal at the Royston Folk Club. July is a mix of Celtic Krystal gigs, some production work for the Hitchin Festival, and several school events as the term draws to a close for the holidays. Celtic Krystal have a welcome return visit to the Barton le Clay Beer Festival on Saturday 13th July at 8.00pm. The event is held in the new Scout and Guide Hall. 4. June 2013

June 2013 – got off to a good start with the sunny weather and an open air gig at the Big Lunch in Letchworth’s Howard Park. Thanks to the folk that came out to support Celtic Krystal and also the other entertainers. For once the sun shined on the large turn out of families – in the midst of a cooling breeze – never happy! This month is busy on the opera and corporate front with a major production at Hambledon in Surrey for the local community on Saturday 8th June 2013. The open air picnic event will be held …

  5. May 2013

    Celtic Krystal

May 2013 – well it has been a long time since I ‘resided’ in an NHS hospital but my sincerest thanks to all concerned at The Lister in Stevenage. Total dedication, professionalism and committment. Where would we be without an NHS – I suggest back in the dark ages!! The first May bank holiday Monday I will be singing with Celtic Krystal at The Horns in Datchworth from 1.00pm – 4.00pm at their beer fesival. The Bank Holiday at the end of May sees Celtic Krystal at The Victoria in Hitchin for the Annual VicFest in aid of The British …

  6. April 2013

April 2013 – well it has been a long time since I set off for gigs in March, and now April, with snow still by the side of the roads. A big thank you to all the people that turned out for our St.Patrick’s Night gigs, At La Concha in Letchworth, the Musgrave Arms, near Shillington, and The Boot in Baldock. Our final performance to end the weekend was in The Victoria Hitchin and what a night – fantastic! It was a cracking end to the weekend. A quiet month on the live gigs front but I am off to …

  7. March 2013

March 2013 – there is something always vibrant about the month of March. It’s probably a lot to do with the hope of spring and warmer weather, light nights with the change of clocks, and without a doubt the March madness of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Rehearsals with Celtic Krystal are all scheduled for our green weekend around the 17th March 2013. The band kicks off at La Concha in Letchworth on Friday 15th March 2013 at 8.30pm. The restaurant is serving up Irish Tapas, and during the course of the evening dancers from Team Brooks, based in North London, …

  8. February 2013

February 2013 – This month may well be the month of love, but firstly I would ‘love’ to thank all those people, who attended the Burns’ Suppers in Letchworth and at The Victoria in Hitchin. Also to thank Tony Phillips and Joyce Campbell for their toasts to the lassies and laddies respectively, and to fiddlers Adrian Boddy and Krystal Woodbridge for accompaniment and for jigs and reels. Thanks to Mary Rutherford, caller, and to all at the venues who made such fantastic food. You should now know a few love songs and very relevant lines of poetry to quote in …

  9. January 2013

    Robert Burns

January 2013 – Wishing all my web site visitors and friends A Very Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year. January, for me, has always felt like the ‘global hangover month’ in the world of entertainment. You only have to look at the ‘What’s On’ columns in the press to see what is ‘Not On’! That said, the Scots overcome this in a big way by staging the annual ‘Celtic Connections’ in Glasgow from 17th January 2013. Some of the events will be covered by Celtic Music Radio, so you can always hear this on line at www.celticmusicradio.net if, like me, …

  10. December 2012

    Christmas Tree and Presents

December looks to be an exciting month to end 2012 with production work for Joanne Farrell in concert in North London and for Paul B. Edwards Comedy night at the Victoria in Hitchin. This month saw the release of the Hitchin Community CD ‘A Hitchin Christmas’, which features ‘Lord of the Dance’ ~ Celtic Krystal (track 2) and ‘In the Bleak Mid Winter’ ~ Robin (track 10) amidst many other choirs, bands and musos from the town. The CD, a nice little stocking filler, is raising funds for the Hitchin Christmas Lights fund, and was sponsored by Hitchin BID and …
