January 2013

Robert Burns

January 2013 – Wishing all my web site visitors and friends A Very Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year.

January, for me, has always felt like the ‘global hangover month’ in the world of entertainment. You only have to look at the ‘What’s On’ columns in the press to see what is ‘Not On’! That said, the Scots overcome this in a big way by staging the annual ‘Celtic Connections’ in Glasgow from 17th January 2013. Some of the events will be covered by Celtic Music Radio, so you can always hear this on line at www.celticmusicradio.net if, like me, you live south of the border. I am only disappointed that I will not be attending this year.

At the end of January the National Bard Burns’ Night celebrations take place on Friday 25th January 2013 in locations all around the world. For me, Burns is my focus for this month, as I have three Burns’ Suppers at the end of the month. One with Celtic Krystal at The Cloisters in Letchworth, then two solo events at The Victoria in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, on Saturday 26th (tickets available – at time of writing – from the bar) and Sunday 27th January 2013 (SOLD OUT). That said, I will have Krystal Woodbridge, on fiddle, at the solo events. So it’s a month of revising Burns’ songs and poems to be ready for these gigs. If you are still considering hosting a Burns’ Night and require some appropriate entertainment, then why not get in touch via my contact page. I’m sure I could still pack in a few more plates of haggis, neeps and tatties!

Finally, during this year, I hope to get started on my new solo album and accompanying videos. Have a good January and keep a clear head for the year ahead!

~ Yours Aye, Robin.
