February 2013

February 2013 – This month may well be the month of love, but firstly I would ‘love’ to thank all those people, who attended the Burns’ Suppers in Letchworth and at The Victoria in Hitchin. Also to thank Tony Phillips and Joyce Campbell for their toasts to the lassies and laddies respectively, and to fiddlers Adrian Boddy and Krystal Woodbridge for accompaniment and for jigs and reels. Thanks to Mary Rutherford, caller, and to all at the venues who made such fantastic food. You should now know a few love songs and very relevant lines of poetry to quote in the coming weeks! If you enjoyed the music and poetry you can download my offerings FREE from the web site. Rumour has it I will be back at The Victoria next year so keep checking the site for information on 2014!!!

February, for me, is a fairly quiet month on the Live Gigs front, both solo and with Celtic Krystal, as one of us is off to find the snow in France!! That said, there is plenty to do on the preparation for the Irish Nights in Mid March 2013.Celtic Krystal will be at La Concha (Letchworth) on Friday 15th March; The Musgrave Arms (Shillington) on Saturday 16th March; The Boot Baldock for an afternoon session on Sunday 17th March and to round up in The Victoria (Hitchin) that evening. Hopefully, I will find time to make a trip up to Glasgow to have a few beers with broadcaster Colin MacDonald and hear about the craque from this years Celtic Connections in Glasgow. www.celticmusicradio.net I suggest you tune in on line for those of you, who like me, live south of the border. Folkal Point is certainly worth listening to on Thursdays from 10.00pm until 12.00.

If you are considering hosting a folk night and require some songs, jigs and reels, then why not get in touch via my contact page. Myself and Celtic Krystal are available for weddings, parties, folk nights and festivals of all sorts, as is covers duo Solid Silver.

Have a good February and enjoy St. Valentines day – fun all round!

~ Yours Aye, Robin.
